Full-Time Faculty - Print + Paper and Graphic Arts

The School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (SMFA) is conducting a search for a regular, full-time faculty position in Print + Paper and Graphic Arts to begin September 2013. We seek educators who have a strong grounding in theoretical, historical and practical aspects of art making. Our faculty work across disciplinary boundaries; these appointments will be made as interdisciplinary positions rather than specific programs. The School is an interdisciplinary institution where faculty engage with students working in a variety of media, often where media work in combination with one other. We offer studio courses in diploma, undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate programs.

SMFA has a strong tradition in assisting students to work across media and disciplines. Candidates should have the ability to facilitate students' research and production across both art and academic fields of study. Faculty members participate in curriculum design, course development, and interdisciplinary projects. Preferred candidates should have the ability to teach introductory through advanced level courses and to develop both cross-media courses and seminars.

We are seeking an artist well versed in a wide range of print media that may include documented work in new modes of printmaking, graphic design, books, zines, street graphics, public interventions, activist graphics, and/or sculptural applications. The ideal candidate will be able to teach a combination of several of the following print media and graphic applications: intaglio, relief, screen printing, letter press, digital, non toxic, experimental, design applications, text and/or digital graphics. Expertise in lithography and typography are highly desirable but not essential.
