Youth Art Month 2012

Hello everyone,

The YAM events are quickly approaching and we are looking for your help to create the next Massachusetts YAM flag for 2012. The YAM committee is looking forward to another successful year and we ask for your support through participation in the flag design and the annual exhibit at the WAM. The 2012 national Youth Art Month flag event theme will be "Art Shapes the World"

This will be the twenty third consecutive year that the Council for Art Education has held a national flag event! The winner of the flag design will have their design made into a 3' x 5' flag that will be flown in Washington D.C. throughout the month of March. There will be a flag raising ceremony in Washington D.C. to honor the talanted students who designed their state's 2012 flag. The flags will then be on display at the NAEA Convention this spring. Participation in the YAM flag design event is a wonderful opportunity to promote your schools art department and to support the YAM events-somebody must be the winner. Please take part in promoting the importance of art education at a state and national level and participate in as many public venues as possible. We, as art educators, must show everyone just how important art education is to our society, our future work force, and the students we teach. March is Youth Art Month-celebrate!!
